37 Weeks

How far along: 37 weeks.
Total weight gain/loss: Up 18 lbs.
Stretch marks: Not yet.
Sleep: Not great or terrible, although last night I slept hard for 8 straight hours.
Best moment this week: Best and worst moment was wrapped up in one. The version was terrible but we got to see our girl on the ultrasound a lot. She's so big! I can't wait for her to be out here in the world with us!
Miss anything: Being comfortable.
Movement: Sooooo much these last few days. We definitely freaked her out doing that version. She is kicking my left side like she's trying to bust out and her little head is back in the same position and banging into my ribs constantly.
Food cravings: Sweets, I've been wanting sweet drinks like strawberry lemonade. I am usually a water only girl.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Been feeling pretty good.
Symptoms: Rib pain, tired, sciatic pain, contractions.
Have you started to show: I'm pushing maximum density.
Gender: Girl!!!
Belly button in or out: Flat.
Happy or moody most of the time: I wouldn't call it moody, but super stressed and emotional over this breech/version/c-section situation this past week.
Looking forward to: Meeting our girl in a week!!!!

We went to a wedding last night and had to sneak in a picture of the two of us all dressed up. It's probably our last picture as a family of two. :)

External Cephalic Version

Well we tried the version today! Unfortunately it was not successful.

We went into Labor and Delivery this morning around 7:45am. They hooked me up to the fetal heart and contraction monitor for a Non Stress Test (NST) to monitor Hailey's heart rate for about 20 minutes. Then a nurse came in and gave me some fluids through an IV. We had to wait about an hour before we began because the anestesiologist was giving someone else an epidural, and he needed to be free while they did my version incase something went wrong and I needed an emergency C-section.

Finally everything was ready and the nurse came in to gave me a shot of medicine to relax my uterus and keep it from contracting. After all of the shots I took trying to get pregnant I thought the shot would be a breeze, but this one hurt like crazy and the medicine burned as it went in. It also made my heart race and me very shaky. I felt like I chugged a bunch of Red Bull's.

We couldn't have asked for a better doctor and nursing staff to perform the procedure, they were very calming. The midwife kept the ultrasound on Hailey's heart rate while the Dr. felt Hailey's head and booty and began to push her body in the direction she wanted. The pressure was intense. It felt as if one hand was going to pierce my belly and the other was going to crush my ribs. The doctor tried to turn her about 4 times, with breaks for me to catch my breath in between, before I couldn't take the pain and Hailey wasn't budging anymore.

Although the pain may have been the worst I've ever felt, and it wasn't successful, I'm glad we tried. At least we know we did everything we could and a C-section is just the safest route possible. Now we are so excited and looking forward to meeting our girl in a week!

Me all hooked up, being monitored.

Hailey's heart rate and contraction monitor.

My IV, which looked a lot more intense than I expected.

36 Weeks

Best moment this week: J's work threw him a surprise baby shower on Monday! They did so much for us and J felt very appreciated for all his hard work.
Miss anything: Being comfortable :(
Movement: A lot. Now that we know she's breech I feel like she's been trying to flip herself for weeks but is stuck in my ribs.
Food cravings: Anything sweet.
Anything making you queasy or sick: No, I've been feeling pretty good in that department lately.
Symptoms: Rib pain, Acid reflux, my belly is just all around uncomfortable.
Have you started to show: I went to the mall to get some makeup today, and the girl helping me said I looked like I was ready to pop! Totally made my day!

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy! But super anxious about this breech situation.
Looking forward to: Getting this whole flip vs. c-section thing sorted out.

Girlfriend is Breech

We went to our 36 week OB appointment today. Our Nurse Practitioner came in, said how fabulous I was doing, then felt for the Hailey's position. She poked around and thought she felt the head by my right hip. But upon further inspection she said "uh oh, that's not her head, this is". She pulled out the ultrasound machine and sure enough, there was her little head wedged firmly in my right ribcage, sunny side up.

Since she is a Nurse Practitioner/Midwife she had us schedule an appointment with an actual OBGYN doctor for Wednesday. At this appointment the doctor will attempt to flip Hailey by doing something called External Cephalic Version (she kept referring to it as "a version"). They hook me up to a bunch of machines, give me some medicine to make my uterus not contract, then the doctor jams his hands into my belly, grabs her head and literally tries to flip her. I am scared to death of trying this! Side effects/complications include.. putting me into labor and needing a c-section right then and there, placental abruption-causing emergency c-section, getting the cord wrapped around Hailey's neck, and extreme maternal discomfort. There's also a chance that even if the version is successful she could flip back breech on her own. And let's keep it real, she's mine and J's daughter so what do you think our chances are that she decides she's going to do what she wants and stay breech? Our other option is to not try to flip her and just schedule a c-section for around 39 weeks.

Baby girl's head may not be spinning anytime soon but mine and J's sure are!

Maternity Photos

Our maternity photos are in!! We were really on the fence about whether to do them or not, but after everything we went through to get pregnant we decided to go ahead with it. And we are so glad we did! We got around 40, but here are some of our favs.

I think this one is my favorite.

34 Weeks.

How far along: 34 weeks!
Total weight loss/gain: 14 lbs.
Stretch marks: Not yet...
Sleep: Ugh.. I fall asleep great but wake up a million times.

Movement: She's been something else lately, limbs sticking out everywhere. This morning J said "she's definitely up to something in there."
Food cravings: Strawberries and fruit. And ice cream, but I always want ice cream so I don't think that actually counts as a pregnancy craving.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Forgetting to take my iron pills apparently makes me feel super sick and almost pass out at the nail salon. Gotta remember those bad boys.
Symptoms: Heartburn, Braxton Hicks, back pain, so so tired.
Have you started to show: Apparently not as much as I think I am. If one more person tells me "You don't look big enough to be due next month" I may have a meltdown.
Gender: Girl!!!
Belly button in or out: Still flat.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Meeting our girl! I probably wouldn't consider myself a patient person, so these next few weeks are going to seem sooo long!
